Hosts for Asia's biggest cricket showdown face top-tier competition in round-robin format
DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates will play a double role in Asia Cup 2025 – both as host and competitor.
The eight-nation T20 tournament will unfold between September 9 and 28, across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, featuring elite teams from across Asia.
The UAE team has been drawn in Group A alongside cricket giants India and Pakistan, as well as regional neighbour Oman. All group stage matches will follow a single round-robin format.

Asia Cup 2025: UAE matches
With each team playing three matches, UAE fans will see their national team take on some of the sport’s biggest names. The home team kicks off their campaign against India on September 10.
- Sep 10: UAE vs India
- Sep 15: UAE vs Oman
- Sep 17: UAE vs Pakistan
The group stage concludes on September 19, after which the top two teams from each group progress to the Super Four stage. Given the group’s strength, UAE will need strong performances to break into the next round.
Qualification format
Each group consists of four teams, with two advancing to the Super Four stage. From there, the top two teams after the round-robin fixtures will reach the final on Sunday, September 28.
- Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman
- Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong
The UAE qualified through the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, showing strong performances to earn their place in this elite competition.
Host nation advantage
Although venues have not been officially confirmed, it's expected that Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host UAE’s fixtures. This home advantage could prove crucial, especially with crowd support and familiar playing conditions.
